Sri Vidya Saraswathi Shani Temples Wargal

The Sri Vidya Saraswathi and Sri Shani Temples at Wargal are the outcome of deep devotion, unshakable resolve, and years of spiritual perseverance. At the heart of this divine initiative was Sri Brahmasri Yayavaram Chandrasekhar Sharma Siddhanthi, whose vision to establish a sacred temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswathi Devi found its roots in unwavering faith.

This spiritual mission was shaped under the blessings of his revered Guru, Late Brahmasri Appam Kandhadai Srinivasa Acharya Sindhanthi Garu, and supported by like-minded disciples—Brahmasri Akella Jayakrishna Sharma, Brahmasri Gollapalli Ramachandra Murthy, and Brahmasri GVN Sharma. Together, they formed the Satyapadam Seva Samithi, the organization that would lead the temple’s journey. Before his passing, Sri Appam Kandhadai Acharya Garu gave a solemn instruction to the group—to serve this divine cause without any desire for personal name, fame, or material reward.

Finding the Sacred Location

The search for the temple site led to the serene Wargal hillocks, known for their ancient spiritual presence. This land already housed heritage temples and a centuries-old cave shrine dedicated to Swamy Shanbhulingeshwara, a self-manifested form of Lord Shiva. Recognizing the sanctity and historical weight of this space, the committee finalized Wargal as the temple’s home.

The Humble Beginnings: Temple Foundation

In 1989 (Vibhava Nama Samvatsara, Shuddha Panchami), the foundation stone for the temple was laid with just ₹2700, marking a humble yet powerful beginning. Despite limited resources, the devotees pressed forward, sustained by divine grace and community faith.

Temple Consecration and Divine Blessings

In the face of many challenges, the consecration of Sri Vidya Saraswathi Devi and Sri Shaneeshwara Swamy temples was joyously completed in 1992 (Swasthisri Prajothpathi Nama Samvatsara, Magha Shuddha Trayodashi). The rituals were led by His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Vidya Narasimha Bharathi Swamy of Pushpagiri Peetham, imbuing the site with vibrant spiritual energy.

A Spiritual Bond with Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham

In 1999, under the insightful leadership of Brahmasri Yayavaram Chandrasekhar Sharma Garu, the temple aligned itself with the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. Since then, all religious practices and festivals are conducted as per the sacred traditions of the Peetham.

Sri Sharada Vaidika Smartha Vidyalayam

In the same year (1999), a Smartha Vedapatashala was launched under the blessings of Sri Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Sri Sri Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, and with the guidance of Late Brahmasri Mookeralla Prabhakar Sharma. Started on 10th November 1999 (Bahudanya Samvatsara, Karthika Shuddha Panchami), this Vedic school has educated and initiated hundreds of students in the Smartha tradition over the past two and a half decades.

Consecration of Sub-Temples (Upa-Aalayas)

In 2001, a beautiful shrine for Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi was constructed within the temple complex. This addition brought a new wave of devotional energy to the area. During the same period, a dedicated space was planned for Annadanam, where food would be served daily to devotees — rooted in the belief that feeding others is a sacred duty and an offering to the divine.

In 2021, two more divine shrines were established — Sri Sridevi Bhoodevi Sametha Kalyana Venkateshwara Swamy and Sri Valli Devasena Sametha Subrahmanya Swamy. These were consecrated by esteemed saints of Pushpagiri Peetham, Rangampet, and Hampi Peetham.

By 2023, a separate Shankara Matham was established within the temple premises to further spiritual learning and Vedantic tradition. Completed in just a few months with community support, this center now serves as a space for conducting scriptural studies, regular rituals, and spiritual discussions, keeping alive the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya in modern times.

2024: Construction of a new temple for Sri Chandramouleshwara Swamy nears completion and is expected to open soon.
